5 Steps to go Viral on Instagram
After reaching 200 million+ total views for myself and helping hundreds of my students go viral, I've seen what works and what doesn't. In this article, I'll reveal the most important things to go viral and grow your audience.
5th one is the most important one.
1. Great research
In order to go viral, we need to understand what type of content is currently effective and is being promoted by the algorithm.
Once we have that knowledge, we can better structure our content to maximize our chances of going viral.
Here's how you can find these videos yourself:
Open the Instagram app on your phone.
Navigate to the Reels tab.
Scroll until you find a video that's gaining significant attention in terms of likes, shares, and views.
Take note of that video and recreate it yourself, using the same audio.
Find 15-20 of these videos and make a plan to remake them in the upcoming month.
I promise that if you follow these steps, you'll see massive results in your reach on the platform!
2. The right posting times
Monday: 8 a.m. | 11 a.m. | 1 p.m.
Tuesday: 7 a.m. | 10 a.m. | 11 a.m.
Wednesday: 8 a.m. | 9 a.m. | 10 a.m.
Thursday: 8 a.m. | 11 a.m. | 1 p.m.
Friday: 7 a.m. | 11 a.m. | 1 p.m.
Saturday: 10am
Sunday: 7 a.m. | 9 a.m. | 10 a.m.
All of these times are EST-based, which means you need to convert them to your own timezone ⏰
👉 I’ve tested posting at various times, and these have worked best for me!
I don’t want your hard work and effort to go to waste just because you posted at the wrong time.
3. Content Batching
Personally, I dedicate one day each week to shooting content.
Film various scenes, such as:
You working in front of a laptop
You reading a book
Your workspace
You writing
Then, you can use the content you've shot for the entire month, establishing a much more sustainable way of creating content.
4. Using high-quality footage
- Always clean your camera lens before shooting
- Shoot at 4K, 30fps or 1080p HD 60fps
- Make sure you have good lighting
- Turn on apple pro-res
- Turn off HDR
5. Great hooks (The most important)
The hook will either make or break your video's success…
→ Put 80% effort into crafting a top-notch hook at the start of your reel (Within the first 3 seconds ⏰)
As promised, here are 3 hook frameworks you can use to make your reels go viral:
- I want to get x, but I’m y…
- This won’t make you x, but this will…
- This one x technique allowed me to get y 5x faster
→ I know it could sound a bit confusing, so let me explain…
Here is a practical example of how to use the given hook frameworks:
Hook: This won’t make you fit, but this will.
→ (At the start of the video, show people doing an intense workout & place this hook on top)
That will immediately catch your audience’s attention by breaking their beliefs…
Most people think that to get in good shape, they have to work out like crazy. 😓
By breaking this belief, you’ll capture their interest and maintain their attention.
→ Then switch the scene to clips of healthy food.
And then in your caption, explain that the most important thing is your diet, giving in-depth value.
And you can use this hook framework in any niche out there… Not just fitness.
