Why 'Work Harder' Is the Worst Advice You'll Ever Get
You see it everywhere.
All the big names, the respected figures.
They shout, “WORK HARD!” They claim this is the key, the single path to success.
But why don’t they ever talk about “HARD REST”?
I think it’s just as important, if not more.
And there’s something else they don’t mention.
Working hard on the wrong thing is the surest way to go nowhere.
What you choose to work on matters more than how hard you work.
A local pizza shop owner might be grinding harder than me.
Yet some nights, my online business makes over $1,000 in my sleep.
We live in an age of infinite leverage.
Your input is limited, but your output? Unlimited.
With one piece of content, you could reach millions—or no one at all.
The difference between those who reach millions isn’t just hard work.
It’s about working smart.
Here’s the framework I’ve used for the last 15 months to work less and earn more.
I call it the "Strategic Sprint."
First, you set aside a time window, exclusively for work.
Remove all distractions.
During that time, work intensely and intelligently on a single goal.
Then, you rest.
The next day, review your results, gather feedback.
Improve what works; discard what doesn’t.
Repeat this cycle.
As humans, we’re more like lions than machines.
We aren’t made to grind endlessly.
We’re built to attack, then relax, observe, refine, and attack again.
How do you decide what to work on?
Start with your natural interests.
Follow your curiosity.
Then align it with something that maximizes output.
Often, this leads to creating content—connecting your interest in climbing with storytelling, your love for writing with a newsletter, or your passion for fitness with online coaching.
Build a personal brand that aligns with your interests.
This way, your work produces maximum results.
Attract an audience who shares your passion. Build freedom.
Yes, there will be moments of hard work.
But remember, that’s only 25% of the recipe.
The other 75% is about hard rest, thoughtful adjustment, and diving into things that genuinely excite you.
